BMW is stepping on the tube and is leading the pack, when it comes to car connectivity and the future of transportation. In the beginning of 2011 they announced BMW i as an umbralla for rethinking the car as we know it and the way we use our transportation infrastructure. The claim for BMW i is “Born electric” and is a bold statement on where the story goes.

BMW i represents a new movement in premium mobility. With the introduction of this new sub-brand, the BMW Group reaffirms its leadership as the most innovative and sustainable premium car company.

The latest move of BMW i is a cooperation with UKs design mag Wallpaper* to create a future vision of urban environment: Sustainable Neighbourhoods. Over the course of six months, six creative teams have the opportunity to “explore, chronicle and research six different city zones worldwide with the aim of defining a new infrastructural, cultural or social project that will scale seamlessly into the future“.

I find it very interessting how a company like BMW is opening up and is involving people and the public in order to find new ways and ideas for future developments. It’s that kind of listening and curating that modern companys need to become loved brands.
