BMW is stepping on the tube and is leading the pack, when it comes to car connectivity and the future of transportation. In the beginning of 2011 they announced BMW i as an umbralla for rethinking the car as we know it and the way we use our transportation infrastructure. The claim for BMW i is “Born electric” and is a bold statement on where the story goes. BMW i represents a new movement in premium mobility. With the introduction of this new sub-brand, the BMW Group reaffirms its leadership as the most innovative and sustainable premium car company. The latest move of BMW i is a cooperation with UKs design mag Wallpaper* to create a future vision of urban environment: Sustainable Neighbourhoods. Over the course of six months, six creative teams have the opportunity to “explore, chronicle and research six different city zones worldwide with the aim of defining a new infrastructural, cultural or social project that will scale seamlessly into the future“. I find it very interessting how a company like BMW is opening up and is involving people and the public in order to find new ways and ideas for future developments. It’s that kind of listening [...]

Mid-November Google Street View launched in Germany with a very controversive discussion. Over 220.000 houses have been pixaleted, because someone (houseowner, tenant) was concerned about his privacy being violated be the public offering of the photos on Street View. Although Blurmany was the most successful launch of the product in its history. No country before showed more activity. Without any problems, in the close neighbourhood, in Austria, the region of Obertauern launched, as they call it, an interactive plan to explore the wintersport ressort. Actually it’s a combination of 360° views from the ground and the air. Service points are integrated into the site to find hotels, ski routes, the namen of a peak, a bakery or a bar, which lead with a klick to according homepage. The plan itself can be seen on the official site of Tourism Obertauern. Streetpano is simmilar to Google Street View, but with much higher resolution und much more detail. This new solution comes from the agency Algo (Pongau, Austria) with their CEO, Alexander Gollegger. More than ten years has he invested in this technologie, which offers completely new panorama photography in high resolution and is held under top secret. With Airpano it is possible [...]

Banksy belongs to Britain like tea or the Tower Bridge. Since several years his pastings and paintings enrich the city and surprise the passengers on and on. Not just in Britain, but worldwide. Now he came out with the street art documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, directed by himself, and co-directed by another street art star Shepard Fairey. www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0b90YppquE Besides being a great watch and must-see movie, it opens a very interesting discussion: What happens when fame, money and vandalism collide? But the real question is: Is Mr. Brainwash a new art piece of Banksy? Or is MBW the real Banksy? The movie tells a story of Thierry Guetta, a French-born ex-pat living in L.A., who was obssesive with filming everything with his handycam. Someday he caught up with street artist like Shepard Fairey, Invader and Banksy and filmed their creative work. everyday, nonstop. After a suggestion of Banksy, MBW ends up making street art himself. He commercializes it in a big way, a gets famous almost over night, selling pieces for half a million. Even the LA Times caught attension of MBW’s first artshow in 2008. Banksy is known for teasing his audience, toying with authority, and continually pulling [...]

Finally winter has come to us. On time with the seasons opening and the christmas decoration across the cities and peoples homes. Anyway, this years summer hadn’t been one of the most impressive and i heard noone celebrating a remarkable summer of 2010. On the contrary, it seems like people are ready for wintertime. Yes, everybody is complaining – as usual – about the freezing temperatures and everybody gets a bad feeling thinking of shopping in the crowded streets. But somehow christmas gifts are one everybodys mind. Quite early, as much as I can tell. Even I have all presents (at least the idea what to get), and it’s not even Dezember. If you look at it closely, also the christmas markets contribute to the overall situation, by luring the people into the cities, offering a xmasy mood with warm wine, seasons decoration and a nice day or evening with friends and loved ones. Let’s see what the next weeks will bring, besides cold, very cold, temperatures.

“For 7 or 8 years now the West Coast has been trying to do music that appeals to the South and Mid-West. The words, ‘too West Coast’ would be heard throughout the industry whenever our music was played. Even by our own dj’s. Left coast MC’s were now trying to change their sound to cater to all the followers. We lost our way. Thank God for b-boys like Snoop, The Game & WC for keeping the West alive, but we were all guilty of over reaching. No more. At least not from me. I do it how I feel it; not how I think it should be done. Radio fucked us up. I hate the politics at radio. I don’t know who to pay to get my shit played. Having a hot song is not enough. Ridiculous.” Read more: http://www.icecube.com/users/icecube/blogs/138811 This shit is real. Like he’s never been gone before. Forget about ”Are we there yet?” or the other kiddie movies. These are a whole different side to him. Music is Cubes root, and the root goes back to the westside, to California, the ghetto. Therefore, after these years in the movies, Cube returns like he’s never been away and [...]
